Adoption

I am staying up way too late looking at pictures of a new family. This family traveled to China to be united with their daughter. The beautiful faces of the new parents, the baby, friends and family has me overwhelmed with joy. It takes me back to the time we brought our daughter home. There were so many friends and family at the airport to greet us (at MIDNIGHT!! due to A long FLIGHT DELAY!! another story!) It was truly an experience of a lifetime. We had been through so much to get to that day. Years and years of heartache, disappointment, loss, grief, perserverance, joy..... ups and downs. No one could have ever made me believe adopting a child would be as wonderful an experience as delivering a child. But, it is.... completely is..... In some ways, it felt like we would "settle" for adoption, if we couldn't "have" children. Now, I know, it was all part of God's bigger plan. He makes all things beautiful. In HIS time. Each of my children came to us in very different ways but, I know, from a common beginning. Heaven.

New thing for me

OK, for years, I've been thinking about this blogging thing. I am new to it so it's a little scary. But, I have enjoyed following friends' blogs and wanted to jump in. So here goes! My first entry. It's kind of exciting. I thought I'd use this time to just be as random as my brain can be (it's sooooo random). In nursing school, we were taught to assess, plan, implement and evaluate. I am in the assessment phase of the blog universe. I am assessing my reasons for jumping in and trying to figure out in my brain, just what I will accomplish by doing this. So, will it be just for the journaling, records of life for my children, or pure expression, I don't know........ But, I do know, there was a purpose for this and I should use it to find the purpose. Short or long lived blogger, who knows, but I was here. Thank you God. The story of Zig Zags. When my son was little, I sewed most all his clothes, that I didn't buy from Kellys Kids, Ragsland, Mulberribush etc..(much to the dismay of a few of my friends that dislike jon jons uh hum Deborah and Brooke). He had plenty but my hobby became finding the cutest outfits or making the cutest. SO, I had to find a way to fund this hobby of mine....... Which came in the way of sewing. My mama sewed lots of clothes for us when we were little. I watched her sew a lot.......making Easter dresses, cheerleading suits, hair bows etc. She could pretty much sew or make anything.... or figure out how to (she's a WonderWoman ). She taught me how and I took a few years of Home Ec (do they still teach this? ....they should..... remember, I'm random). I ended up taking a sewing class at Continental Sewing Center on jumpers and jon jons to learn more. This blossomed into applique t shirts and this is when it got FUN! I started sewing chenille appliques, baseball appliques, dinosaus etc. and really LOVED it (no time for it now, but loved it still) I used zigzag stitching on all the applique edges. It became my "stitch" or niche', I would say. Anyway, my friend Beth, Janie and myself went to a "crack sale" at Kellys Kids (crack because it is an addiction! you always always spend more than you plan) We were going to stay in Natchez for the night, get up early and get in line with the other crackheads. We got the hotel and couldn't sleep because we were so excited about our future purchases. We were tossing and turning & talking. We talked about the name of this hobby business of mine. I wanted to name my little hobby business a cute little catchy name. My sis, Janie, said "What about ZigZags"? Zig Zags fits me to a T! It's the stitch I use, it's the life I live......ZigZagging here, there and everywhere. It's a fun, crazy, life but I love it. So ZigZags was born.
